About BiOrb Aquarium Products

BiOrb are a unique aquarium design and supplies specialist, who have re-searched and carried out extensive testing to ensure that the best qualities are included in their aquariums. These qualities include only using acrylic to make their aquariums, the reason behind this is that acrylic is much more shock resistant than glass, and often when glass is knocked it will weaken, and sometimes even shatter into many pieces. Acrylic will not do this and has been proven to be 17 X stronger than glass; it is also more transparent and will enable you to see your fish more clearly. Acrylic is an amazing 93% transparent, where glass only allows 70% of light to pass through; also when thicker glass is used it can take on a green tinge which can affect how clearly you see the colours of your fish.
Acrylic is also much lighter, is seamless and when scratched the scratch can actually be polished out, where with glass you are stuck with a scratch that cannot be removed.

When you receive your BiOrb you will find included, an air pump, a filter cartridge, ceramic media, water treatments and a small supply of fish food to get you started.

The air pump helps to ensure that the water in your tank is always oxygenated, and due to the design of BiOrbs you will find that your entire tank is oxygenated and that there are no places where the oxygen does not reach.

The filter cartridge contains water sterilizers which help to control the chemistry of the water in your BiOrb. Also, the chemical blend in the cartridge helps to remove toxins from the water, excluding ammonia, and your filter cartridge also includes a chemical non reactive mechanical filter to enable it to trap particles in the tank water.

Ceramic Media is also a very important part of your BiOrb set up as it encourages beneficial bacteria to live in and on its porous large surfaces. Beneficial bacteria are created naturally, but you can also choose to add a bacteria booster, once you have added your ceramic media following the set up instructions. The beneficial bacteria breaks down ammonia & nitrite in your aquarium and so once established you should never remove or rinse the media with tap water. Partial water changes should still be carried out, but you should always follow the instructions included with your BiOrb.
