Matrix removes nitrate, ammonia and nitrite, simultaneously and i is compatible with all types of wet and dry filters.
Matrix biofiltration uses tiny balls about 10mm in diamater to act as a filter medium. The porous inorganic solids have a great surface area - as much as 170 litres of plastic balls.
Whereas plastic filter balls only offer the external surface area, Matrix have both the external and internal macroporous surface area.
The macropores in the filter medium are ideally sized for the support of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria.
Because Matrix is inert and won't break down it doesn't need to be replaced - it can just be rinsed as required.
