Koi ponds create a superb focal point in any garden. Here we have a well constructed KOI POND that takes centre stage in a gravelled area of this properties large garden.
An area of an adjacent field was set aside to create this stunning pond and Japanese themed garden. A bespoke fence was installed to act as a windbreak, Japanese water features and lanterns are situated around the pool for added effect. Bamboos and Acers have subsequently been added in large glazed pots.
The koi pool hold over 5500 gallons and is 2m deep. A central Spindrifter bottom drain feeds the Nexus Filtration System. The water is returned via a Yamitsu UVC and is split to two mid water returns. The Olympic surface skimmer is powered by a separate Oase Aquamax pump and feeds another mid-water return.
The pond is stocked with 15 koi now approaching 50cm each in length.
The pond is constructed with a reinforced concrete base, block rendered walls, sealed with G4 POND PAINT and capped with buff coloured flags.
The pond filter chamber is built in the same way and has a timber lid. An electrical consumer unit was professionally installed with full RCD protection.
The pond was designed and constructed by Swell UK in 2002.
