Velda Blue Cotton

Veldalon Blue Cotton has been made from high-grade coarse fibres, which guarantee long lifetime. The elastic nylon fibres guarantee optimum porosity, whilst their filter capacity is high. Consequently this cotton is suitable for all pond filters available on the market, in particular biological filters.

Filtration of the pond water can be effected both mechanically and biologically. The action of mechanical filtration is based on removal of organic and inorganic dirt particles as well as of odours and colourings.

The principle of biological filtration is to achieve better and quicker conversion of organic constituents by means of micro-organisms. Filter cotton and filter carbon materials of Velda ensure excellent water filtration.

Filter materials determine the quality of a filter!

Not the filter but the filter materials determine the quality of filtration. Mechanical filter material stops dirt but they can not decompose waste materials. Biological filter materials convert waste materials, however, they do not stop dirt.

For this reason a combination usually is the thing to do. Below you find examples of such combination:

• Cotton or filter foam, which removes large dirt particles;
• Active pond carbon, which absorbs odours and colourings;
• Excipient for the adherence of micro-organisms, such as ceramic filter tubules.
