Koi pond 'unique garden water feature'

Koi pond 'unique garden water feature'

A koi pond can accentuate a green space, it has been claimed.

Those attempting to give their green space a unique look should opt for a koi pond, if one column is anything to go by.

Brandon News and Tribune columnist Monica Brandies recently visited a garden which included the water feature and noted it helped created a wonderful display.

Gale and Ki's outdoor space in the US town also includes a waterfall, which Brandies reckoned accentuated the rest of their landscape creation.

The koi pond has a wooden bridge, something artist Ki told the news provider needed a little thought.

He remarked: "I first planned the bridge to be shaped like a rainbow, but if I had done that, we wouldn't be able to see the waterfall from the bench in the corner."

The water feature is complimented by orchids, succulents and ferns.

Earlier this month, Guardian blogger Jane Perrone advised UK koi pond owners of how to care for fish during a cold snap.

She explained a hot kettle can be used to melt the ice on the water feature, to ensure the pets have enough oxygen.
