A garden pond owner has revealed his delight that wildlife such as moorhens nest in his water feature.Architect David Leahy, from Limerick, has discussed how he created his spectacular garden with the Irish Independent, which said his home and yard is far from average.
To give him and wife Jane more space to realise their horticultural dreams, Mr Leahy bought a field behind his home, which he has used to create a range of features.
One of these is a large garden pond, which the news provider stated has "enhanced the views".
Six trees have been planted around the edge of the water next to a rock feature, while moorhens lay several clutches of eggs around the garden pond every year.
"I arranged the stones to look as if they're dancing," Mr Leahy explained. "My mother was a fantastic gardener, she was well known for her garden. She helped me with this before she died."
Another Irish green space which has an impressive garden pond is the Dillon Garden in Dublin.
Celebrity horticulturist Diarmuid Gavin recently featured the yard in a column for the Simonseeks travel website.
