It is not a difficult task to repair a torn pond liner. If the water level of a garden pond is dropping, it is possible the pond liners are torn, which will require a repair.
Firstly, the water should be put into a temporary fish pond and the fish can then be briefly rehomed in it, with the purpose of this to avoid causing any excessive stress.
The fastest way to fill the temporary pond is with electric pond pumps.
Drain the water until the damaged area is exposed, which should be cleaned of muck and algae and then dried properly.
Pond liner repair kits can be bought to repair the damage, providing people with simple instructions and all the materials required. PVC kits are needed for PVC ponds, whereas rubber ponds must use a rubber repair kit.
Fix the repair properly and then wait up to six hours before putting the fish back into the pond.
For larger tears or those longer than six inches, the pond liner may need to be replaced.
