Freshly drawn tap-water contains chlorine and chloramine, which is added to the water by the water authorities to disinfect it and prevent contamination by bacteria and other pathogenic agents. Unfortunately both these compounds are extremely toxic to fish, causing panic and intense gill irritation amongst other symptoms.
Thus whenever tap water is added to the pond, for example during a water change, the chlorine and chloramine must be removed. Chlor-go contains compounds that not only remove the chlorine and chloramine, but also remove any heavy metals that are frequently present at low levels in tap-water.
Use Chlor-go whenever you are topping up or changing some or all of the water in the pond. Add 2.5 ml of Chlor-go to every 20 gallons (90 L) of tap-water
