Seachem Matrix removes nitrate, ammonia and nitrite, simultaneously and i is compatible with all types of wet and dry filters.
Matrix biofiltration uses tiny balls about 10mm in diamater to act as a filter medium. The porous inorganic solids have a great surface area - as much as 170 litres of plastic balls.
Whereas plastic filter balls only offer the external surface area, Matrix have both the external and internal macroporous surface area.
The macropores in the filter medium are ideally sized for the support of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria.
Because Matrix is inert and won't break down, it doesn't need to be replaced - it can just be rinsed as required. Remember to rinse in old aquarium water to preserve the bacteria.
Directions for use:
- Use 500 ml of Matrix for each 200 L of water.
- Matrix may be placed in any kind of filter, and is particularly effective in a canister filter. Matrix is quite large, so a filter bag shouldn't be required for most applications.
- This media works well in drip tray systems, but you may find that the larger Pond Matrix is better suited for such applications.
