Dosing Pumps for aquariums are a slightly different kind of pump - They are driven by a different motion than other pumps and are effectively dry-pumps.
How they work:
Dosing pumps are sometimes called peristaltic pumps because of the type of pumping action. A rotating part squeezes the tubing from the outside, pushing the water along inside the tube so no electrical part comes in direct contact with the water, producing a "dosed" measure of water with each pump.
They are great as top up pumps or for shifting small quantities of water or mineral water over a long space of time, slow and steady wins the race!
The AquaMedic dosing pumps are designed to pump small volumes of water and can be used alongside bypass filters to maintain the smooth running of your aquarium and ensure that oxygen is able to enter the water.
The D-D Peristaltic Pump allows you to easily meter and control the water in your aquarium. It is ideal for using alongside calcium reactors, nitrate reactors and for metering chemicals or trace elements.
The AquaMedic Reef Doser can independently control up to four dosing pumps and the interval controller allows you to adjust the duration of the on/off cycle for each pump.
