What is it? What is it for?
Base Elements provide a complete supply for your aquarium. They contain all macro and trace elements required for a healthy reef aquarium. TRITON Base Elements are recommended for use as part of the TRITON Method. This is identified by the Orange label stating "TRITON method".
Important notes for usage:
Please do not dose the TRITON Base Elements simultaneously or mix the solutions, with the exception of 3A and 3B. Base Elements should be dosed into an area of high current, preferably into the return pump chamber. There should be a minimum of 5 minutes between dosing each solution.
How to use Base Elements:
TRITON Base Elements must first be diluted with ultrapure 000TDS RODI water. They should be mixed to make up 4 x 10L solutions. See mixing instructions below. Initial dose is 10ml per 100L aquarium volume of each bottle. Dosage should be the same for each of the solutions, 1, 2, 3A and 3B. After a day carbonate hardness should be measured, the target should be 8dKH. If the carbonate hardness falls (as of 8dKH to 7dKH), the dosage should be increased. If the carbonate hardness increases (e.g. 8dKH on 9dKH), then the dosage should be reduced.
Preparing the Base Elements Solutions:
Base Elements 1: The powder should be added to 9L RODI and mixed until fully dissolved (warming the RODI can help) then topped up to make 10L.
Base Elements 2: Add the liquid to 9L RODI
Base Elements 3A: Add the liquid to 9L RODI
Base Elements 3B: Add the liquid to 9L RODI
Number 1 = Alkalinity + Traces
Number 2 = Calcium + Traces
Number 3A = Magnesium + Traces
Number 3B = Magnesium + Traces
