eSHa Alx is a parasite treatment that treats specific crustaceans, such as Carp lice, Anchor worms and Gill Lice, which can be particularly common on pond fish.

  • 20ml bottle treats up to 2,000l for the recommended 2 day course, though longer treatments may be required
  • Suitable for fish-only freshwater and marine, not to be used with any invertebrates or corals
  • A broad-spectrum treatment that can be used with other eSHa ranges
  • Effective against Carp lice, Anchor Worms and Gill lice.
  • Can be used on ponds for effective treatments
  • What does this solution treat?

Treating parasites including Argulus, Lernaea and Ergasilus, the eSHa Alx removes them from the skin and gills. Alx is not suitable for us with shrimp, crayfish or other invertebrates, and whilst it can be used on marine aquariums, it should not be used with corals, anemones, urchins or other invertebrates. In freshwater systems, it can be used with live plants and doesn't impact filter bacteria at all.

Signs to look out for on your fish to see if they require this treatment include changing in skin colour or appearance, and clamped fins. Parasites can sometimes cause unusual swimming behaviours as well, and are usually visible to the naked eye.

What can I use with this treatment?

Like most of the eSHa range, this can be used in conjunction with other treatments in the range to cover a broad spectrum, including the eSHa 2000, eSHa Exit, and eSHa Gdex. It is actively recommended to also use a regular daily dose of eSHa Optima for good fish health too, acting as a great preventative for stress and disease.

How do I use this treatment?

Suitable for use as a preventative measure as well as an active treatment, this comes in a 20ml bottle. Due to the nature of parasites and how the lay eggs, multiple treatments are often required to fully treat them. It is recommended to use Alx with a 2 day dose over a three week period, dosing on day 1, with a water change on day 7, then a further treatment on day 14, and another water change on day 21, helping to treat as well as remove eggs. To treat 100l of water, you only need 0.5ml of eSHa Alx, so this bottle will treat 2000l for the full 3 week dose (10ml for day 1 and 10ml for day 14).

As with most treatments, you should remove any chemical filtration that you have whilst you are treating the aquarium.
