Help and advice on shopping for: Red Sea Aquariums

What are Red Sea aquariums?

Red Sea aquariums are premium reef-ready marine tanks. Each one combines euro-braced ultra-clear glass with a matching cabinet and in-cabinet sump to keep your pump, skimmer, and filtration out of sight. Red Sea aquariums and equipment are designed to work together, and compatible devices are all connected through the ReefBeat app.

Which Red Sea aquarium should I choose?

Red Sea offers two ranges, Reefer and Reef-Frame, and each one comes as either a bare system or a Max system with matching equipment included.

  • Reefer G3+: The latest version of the Reefer G3 range, now with ReefControl. Included is an aquarium, cabinet, sump, ReefControl, and an ATO module. You have the freedom to choose your own lighting, pumps, and skimmer. Available with a black or white cabinet.
  • Reefer Max G3+: The same premium aquarium but with matching Red Sea equipment included, from ReefLED lighting, ReefWave pumps, and a ReefRun return pump to a protein skimmer, ReefMat fleece roller filter, and ReefControl Pro with ATO. Everything can be controlled through the ReefBeat app.
  • Peninsula Models: Available in both Reefer G3+ and Reefer Max G3+ ranges, the peninsula layout allows for a view of your reef from both sides, making the perfect room divider.
  • Reef-Frame: The new modern reef-ready system, supplied bare for complete customisation. Included in this ATO ready setup is the aquarium, sump, and cabinet in black, white, or oak finishes.
  • Reef-Frame Max: The same reliable system with ReefLED lighting, ReefWave pumps, a ReefRun return pump, protein skimmer, ReefMat fleece roller, ReefControl Pro, and an ATO included.

Is the Max version worth it?

The Red Sea Max aquariums put everything you need for a thriving reef into one package, with the equipment all designed to work flawlessly together, ideal for beginners and experienced reefkeepers alike. The standard versions are best for aquarists who want to choose their own lighting, flow, and filtration.

What else do I need with my Red Sea Aquarium?

Every reef will need marine salt and test kits to keep water stable. If you choose a standard model rather than the Max, add marine lighting, return pumps, wave makers, and a protein skimmer. To finish your reef, add marine rock and substrate.
