Help and advice on shopping for: Live Aquarium Plants

What are live aquarium plants?
Instead of silk or plastic recreations of aquatic plants, aquarium live plants are the real deal. Living plants will grow and become an exciting aspect of any aquarium. They also produce oxygen through photosynthesis which can be extremely useful.
Why should I buy live plants?
While slightly harder to maintain than artificial plants, aquarium live plants are much more rewarding and beneficial to your aquarium. As your live aquarium plants produce oxygen they are very useful for aerating your tank and keeping your fish’s stress levels low. The plants are also naturally beautiful and will add extra visual interest to your aquarium.
What are the main types of live aquarium plants?
The live aquarium plants range is broken into three groups; carpeting plants, foreground plants and background plants. Carpeting plants spread across the bottom of your aquarium providing hiding spaces and food for bottom feeders, fry and shrimp. Foreground plants are eye-catching plants that sit at the front and centre of your tank. Background plants are less vibrant plants that create a green background full to set behind your foreground plants.
What should I look for?
Choosing between aquarium plants really comes down to personal taste. While it is worth checking that the plants are suitable for your aquarium, once you know what’s safe we recommend choosing the plants that appeal to you. This is an opportunity to express and enjoy yourself.
