All goldfish varieties grow large so we recommend larger coldwater aquariums to house goldfish long term. There are many suitable coldwater nano fish species however like White Cloud Mountain Minnows and Zebra danios, which could live in nano tanks like these long term.

Do I need a cabinet for a nano tank?

Cabinets and stands are available for some models while very small nano aquariums can be placed on a strong surface. Check the manufacturer’s warranty and recommendations.

Do I need a heater for a nano aquarium?

If you want to keep tropical fish you will also need an aquarium heater. Some nano tanks come supplied with a heater while others require that one is purchased separately. Nano tanks need one Watt per litre of heating power, so a 10 Watt heater for a 10 litre tank, and a 25 Watt heater for a 25 litre nano tank.
