What is the Swell Filter Box Premium UV 45000?

The Swell Filter Box Premium UV is durable, made from the highest quality materials and simple to install and maintain. This extra large model is capable of filtering large ponds up to 45,000 litres and is ideal for wildlife, community and Koi ponds. The kit includes a large UVC of 36w that can be found within the lid (for easy access) that will eradicate green water completely from your pond. Checking the UV light couldn't be any easier with its UV spy hole. If you would like a smaller version of this filter you can try the Swell Filter Box Premium UV 25000. 

What is included with the filter?

The filter kit comes complete with a massive 20 foams in total, 10 course foams designed for larger debris and 10 fine for small debris particles to ensure a clear pond. These foams are great for biological and mechanical use but for extra filtration, this model comes complete with 4 media trays that can be filled with additional media such as Alfagrog, foams or even Carbon or Zeolite. Maintenance couldn't be any easier with its in-situ filter foam cleaning mechanism which allows you to squeeze the foams free of dirt without even getting your hands wet! The dirty water can then be flushed out of the filter box with the 2 sludge drains found at the bottom of the box.

Do I need to buy a pump with this filter box?

Yes, the Swell Filter Box Premium UV 45000 does not come with a pond pump so you will need to attach it to a suitable pump to pull water into and through the filter box. We recommend pairing this filter box with a pump that offers a 10,000lph flow rate. This will ensure you get the most from your Swell Filter Box Premium and allow you to eradicate green water completely through mechanical media and biological filtration.

What does a box filter do?

Box filters, such as the filter box premium, are one of the most common types of pond filters thanks to their low energy usage and minimal maintenance requirements. They work by passing dirty water through a series of foam layers that strain out larger debris and hold helpful bacterial colonies which purify the pond water. When the output of water seems to be dirty or slow, you can simply squeeze out and clean the re-usable foams to clear the filter and ensure it is working at its best.
