What is this Swell Air Pump 70?

This Swell Air Pump 70 is a miniature air pump that can be used to power small foam filters or airstones. Its housing is made of plastic, and it comes with four rubber feet that are designed to reduce noise. It has one attachment point for a single airline (airlines are sold separately).

While it's a great value piece of equipment, it's not suitable for all aquariums. With an air output of 70lph (litres per hour), it can't be relied on as the main pump to power your primary air-driven filter. It is great, however, as an additional pump to power any additional small foam filters or airstones that you may have in your aquarium.

How do I set up this Swell Air Pump 70?

This Swell Air Pump 70 comes preassembled for quick and easy installation. Before you plug it in, attach an airline to the attachment point on the front face of the pump. This airline can then be attached to a foam filter or an airstone inside your aquarium. Once you've done that, plug it in - if you can see bubbles rising to the top of your aquarium then you've set everything up correctly.

It's recommended that you place the Swell Air Pump 70 in a dry place above the water line of your aquarium, just to avoid the risk of water draining down the airline and into your electrics. It's also worth noting that while the pump is designed to run as quietly as possible, there will be a degree of noise as its housing vibrates against any surrounding objects. To dampen this sound as much as possible, place it on a layer of thin foam.
