What are Angelfish?

Angelfish are marine specimen fish that are highly sought after in the fishkeeping world. Few reef fishes can compete with the beauty of angelfishes. The large species' 'billboard' appearance may surprise an encountering diver and pique their interest when a loud bongo-like sound hits them. Angelfishes are found on all tropical reefs, but they are usually in small numbers. Many species remain small, around 10 cm in size, and are sought after in the aquarium trade due to their beauty and rarity. At the moment, 8 genera and at least 88 species are known, with some still undescribed, and all are illustrated in Angelfishs: A Comprehensive Guide to Pomacanthidae. Even species that live in deep water are depicted in full colour here. In addition, many new colour morphs are being added.
