What is the Swell Valentini Puffer?

The Valentini Puffer is an amazing fish that is safe to keep with a large variety of fish but you should avoid any with long fins as the puffer may nip these. Although they will be safe with most fish, they are not reef safe as they will eat any crustaceans and will nip at your corals so it is best to just stick with a fish only aquarium. They are an omnivorous species and feature a powerful jaw with very sharp teeth which allow it to eat molluscs and crustaceans easily and to also scrape algae off the glass with ease. To feed these fish it is best to provide them with plenty of shrimp and small snails as well as some vegetable matter such as algae or algae pellets. Both the male and female members of this species are known to be very territorial so it is best to keep just one of this species in an aquarium and provide them with plenty of space as well as lots of hiding places and live rocks.
