What is the Swell Hush Puppy Puffer?
The Hush Puppy Puffer gets its name from the fact that its face looks like that of a canines and when it feels threatened it will inflate and go into a spiky balloon shape. It should be fed on a mixture of vegetable matter such as algae and frozen and live meaty foods such as brine and mysis shrimp as well as small snails. They need some crunchy foods in their diets to gnaw down their teeth due to them constantly growing. It is best to keep this fish in a fish only aquarium as they can nip at invertebrates and corals, and you also need to make sure that the fish in the aquarium do not have long fins as these will also be nipped at by the puffer. You need to make sure that plenty of space is provided for these fish as they will grow fairly large and have been known to be very territorial. Provide plenty of places for them to hide as well such as established live rocks.
