This species can grow quite large, often reaching up to 18 inches in length, making it more suited for spacious outdoor ponds than traditional aquariums. Origin: Originally from Europe and parts of Asia, the Golden Orfe is a temperate fish found in rivers and lakes. It's well-adapted to cooler water temperatures and has been introduced to various regions worldwide for sport fishing and ornamental purposes. Feeding: Golden Orfes are omnivores with a preference for high-protein diets. They readily accept a variety of foods, including commercially available pellets, flakes, live and frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. It's essential to provide a balanced diet to maintain their health and vibrant coloration. Tank Mates: Being a peaceful and social fish, Golden Orfes do well with other non-aggressive, similarly sized pond fish. Suitable companions include koi, larger goldfish varieties, and other temperate pond dwellers. They are schooling fish and thrive when kept in groups. Aggression: This species is known for its peaceful demeanor and is unlikely to exhibit aggression towards other fish. However, due to their size and active nature, they may unintentionally stress smaller or more timid species. Experience Level: Golden Orfes are recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists due to their size and the need for a large, well-maintained pond environment.
