African Angelfish – Pomacanthus chrysurus
Overview:
The African Angelfish is a stunning marine angelfish, recognized for its bold striped juvenile pattern that transforms into a striking adult with a golden tail and deep blue body. This species makes a breathtaking centerpiece in large saltwater aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Western Indian Ocean and East African coast, including Madagascar and surrounding regions.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on a diet of marine angelfish preparations, spirulina, marine algae, mysis, brine shrimp, and sponge-based foods.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with large, robust marine fish such as tangs, Wrasses, and triggers. Avoid keeping with small, timid species or other large angelfish unless in a very spacious system.
Aggression:
Can be territorial and semi-aggressive, especially toward similar species. Needs ample space and rockwork for territories and hiding.
Experience Level:
Recommended for advanced marine aquarists due to size, dietary needs, and territorial nature.
