Overview

The African Moon Fish, scientifically known as Citharinus Latus, is a striking freshwater species known for its unique, disc-shaped body and vibrant silver color. Origin

Native to the rivers and freshwater basins of Africa, particularly in the Congo River Basin, the African Moon Fish is accustomed to a diverse and dynamic environment. It thrives in conditions that mimic its natural habitat, with plenty of open swimming space and a variety of hiding spots among rocks and vegetation.

Feeding

The African Moon Fish is an omnivore with a preference for a varied diet. In captivity, it should be fed a balanced mix of high-quality flakes or pellets designed for omnivores, along with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Regular feeding of plant-based foods is also recommended to ensure optimal health and coloration.

Tank Mates

This species is known for its peaceful nature, making it an excellent community fish. Ideal tank mates include other peaceful, similarly sized fish. Small, aggressive, or overly active species should be avoided, as they can stress the African Moon Fish or outcompete it for food.
