Albert’s Yellow Belly Hap Cichlid Astatotilapia Aeneocolor 5cm Overview: The Albert’s Yellow Belly Hap, scientifically known as Astatotilapia aeneocolor, is a striking and colorful cichlid renowned for its brilliant yellow belly and iridescent body. This lively and hardy fish is a great choice for adding a splash of color and activity to your African cichlid setup. Origin: Native to the shallow waters of Lake Albert and surrounding rivers in East Africa, particularly in Uganda, the Albert’s Yellow Belly Hap thrives in rocky environments with plenty of hiding spots. This species is well adapted to the fluctuating conditions of its natural habitat. Feeding: Albert’s Yellow Belly Haps are omnivorous and enjoy a varied diet. Feed them a mix of high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, along with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and small crustaceans. Including vegetable matter such as spirulina flakes or blanched spinach helps maintain their vibrant coloration and health. Tank Mates: These cichlids can be kept with other similarly sized and temperament African cichlids, especially those from Lake Victoria or Lake Malawi. Suitable tank mates include species like Peacocks, Mbunas, and other Haps. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or much larger cichlids to prevent stress and conflict. Aggression: Albert’s Yellow Belly Haps can be territorial, particularly during breeding, but they are generally less aggressive than many other African cichlids. Providing plenty of rock structures and hiding spots helps reduce territorial disputes and allows each fish to establish its own space. Experience Level: Intermediate. While Albert’s Yellow Belly Haps are relatively hardy and adaptable, they require specific water conditions and a well-planned tank environment, making them best suited for aquarists with some experience in maintaining African cichlids. Water Parameters: To keep Albert’s Yellow Belly Haps healthy and thriving, maintain water temperatures between 75-81°F (24-27°C), a pH of 7.5-8.5, and moderately hard to hard water (10-20 dGH). Regular water changes and stable water conditions are essential for their well-being. In summary, the Albert’s Yellow Belly Hap Cichlid is a vibrant and hardy species that brings color and excitement to any African cichlid aquarium. With their stunning appearance and active nature, they make a rewarding choice for intermediate aquarists looking to enhance their tank with a beautiful and dynamic fish.Above images for illustration purposes only.
