Archer Fish Taxotes Jaculatrix 5cm Overview: The Archer Fish, known for its remarkable ability to shoot down prey with water jets, captivates aquarists with its unique hunting behavior. This species boasts sleek, silver bodies marked by distinctive black stripes, exuding an air of intrigue in any aquarium setting. Origin: Native to freshwater habitats in Southeast Asia, particularly found in rivers and estuaries, the Archer Fish thrives in environments with ample vegetation and open spaces for hunting. Feeding: A carnivorous species, the Archer Fish prefers live prey, such as insects and small invertebrates. Their precise shooting technique, where they aim and bring down prey from above the water's surface, makes feeding sessions a fascinating spectacle. Tank Mates: Best housed with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish species that can withstand occasional splashing. Peaceful tank mates like tetras, gouramis, and peaceful cichlids can coexist harmoniously. Aggression: Typically peaceful, but may exhibit territorial behavior, especially during breeding.
