Assorted Barbs (Family: Cyprinidae)

Overview

Assorted Barbs are a lively mix of colorful, active freshwater fish known for their schooling behavior and constant movement. Popular in community aquariums, barbs add energy and visual interest, making them a great choice for active display tanks. Species may vary in size, color, and pattern.

Origin

Southeast Asia, India, and parts of Africa (species dependent)

Feeding

• Omnivorous

• Accepts flakes, micro pellets, and granules

• Supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms

Tank Mates

• Best kept with other active community fish

• Suitable with danios, larger tetras, rainbowfish, loaches, and robust gouramis

• Avoid slow-moving or long-finned species

Aggression

• Semi-peaceful to semi-active

• Can be fin-nippy if kept in small groups

• Best kept in schools of 6 or more to reduce aggression
