Lake Tanganyika, East Africa

Feeding

• Omnivorous: accepts high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms

• Feed 1–2 times daily

Tank Mates

• Best kept with other peaceful or semi-aggressive Tanganyikan cichlids

• Avoid slow-moving or very small species

Aggression

• Semi-aggressive; highly territorial, especially during breeding

• Pair or small-group housing works best

Experience Level

Intermediate – requires stable water parameters, structured rockwork, and careful tank management

• Temperature: 24–28°C (75–82°F)

• pH: 8.0–9.0

• Hardness: Moderately hard to hard
