Overview:
Lyretail Mollies are active, colorful livebearers with elegant, elongated tail fins. Hardy and adaptable, they add movement and beauty to freshwater community tanks.
Origin:
Native to Central and South America, found in rivers, streams, and coastal brackish waters.
Feeding:
Omnivores that thrive on high-quality flakes, pellets, algae-based foods, and blanched vegetables, with occasional frozen/live treats.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and well-suited to community aquariums with tetras, guppies, platies, Corydoras, and other non-aggressive fish.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though males may display mild territorial or mating behavior.
Experience Level:
Excellent for beginner aquarists — hardy, easy to breed, and tolerant of a range of conditions.
