Bellus Angelfish – Genicanthus bellus
Overview:
The Bellus Angelfish is a stunning, reef-safe angelfish known for its elegant elongated body and striking sexual dimorphism — males show bold black and orange striping while females display a sleek silver-blue body with subtle highlights. Hardy and peaceful, it makes an excellent addition to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Found in deep reef slopes of the Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Palau.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — enjoys a diet of high-quality marine pellets, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped seafood, with regular algae-based foods.
Tank Mates:
Excellent for reef and community aquariums, cohabiting well with tangs, Wrasses, gobies, clownfish, and other peaceful species.
Aggression:
Very peaceful; best kept singly, in pairs, or harems in larger aquariums.
Experience Level:
Recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists, particularly due to their need for pristine water and swimming space.
