Black Apple Mystery Snail (Pomacea diffusa)
Overview:
The Black Apple Mystery Snail is a striking freshwater snail known for its smooth, dark shell and active behaviour. It is a popular choice for aquariums due to its algae-cleaning abilities and peaceful nature, adding both function and visual appeal to tanks.
Origin:
Native to South America, Pomacea diffusa is commonly found in slow-moving rivers, ponds, and wetlands.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on algae, biofilm, leftover fish food, and plant matter. Supplement with algae wafers, sinking pellets, and blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach.
Tank Mates:
Compatible with most peaceful community fish, shrimp, and other invertebrates. Avoid aggressive or snail-eating species such as puffers and large loaches.
Aggression:
Peaceful. Non-aggressive and suitable for community aquariums.
Experience Level:
Beginner friendly. Hardy and easy to care for.
