Black Clarias Anglolensis 5cm Overview: The Black Clarias Angolensis, also known as the African Blacktail Catfish, is a striking freshwater fish prized for its sleek black coloration and distinctive appearance. With its long body and whisker-like barbels, this species adds an exotic allure to any aquarium. Origin: Originating from Africa, specifically in the rivers and freshwater systems of Angola, this species thrives in warm, tropical climates. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, these catfish are not picky eaters. They readily accept a varied diet including pellets, flakes, live or frozen foods like bloodworms, and occasional vegetable matter. Tank Mates: Generally peaceful, they can coexist with larger, non-aggressive fish that won't outcompete them for food. Compatible tank mates include larger tetras, barbs, peaceful cichlids, and other similarly sized catfish. Aggression: Known for their calm demeanor, these catfish are not aggressive and rarely display territorial behavior, making them suitable for community aquariums. Experience Level: Recommended for intermediate aquarists due to their larger size and specific dietary needs. Basic understanding of tank maintenance and fish behavior is beneficial for their well-being. Water Parameters: Preferring slightly acidic to neutral water conditions (pH 6.5-7.5) and a temperature range of 72-78°F (22-26°C), they require adequate filtration and regular water changes to maintain optimal health.
