Black Ramshorn Snail (Planorbarius corneus)
Overview:
The Black Ramshorn Snail is a hardy and attractive freshwater snail, featuring a flat, spiral shell with deep black to dark brown coloration. It is valued for its algae-grazing and tank-cleaning abilities, making it a practical addition to community and planted aquariums.
Origin:
Native to Europe and parts of Western Asia, Planorbarius corneus is commonly found in slow-moving rivers, ponds, and lakes with abundant vegetation.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on algae, biofilm, decaying plant matter, and leftover fish food. Can be supplemented with algae wafers and blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach.
Tank Mates:
Compatible with most peaceful community fish, shrimp, and other invertebrates. Avoid snail-eating species such as puffers and loaches.
Aggression:
Peaceful. Non-aggressive and suitable for community aquariums.
Experience Level:
Beginner friendly. Very hardy and easy to care for.

- pH: 6.5–8.0

- Hardness: Moderate to hard water preferred for shell health
