Black Rhom Piranha Serrasalmus Rhombeus 10cm Overview: The Black Rhom Piranha, scientifically known as Serrasalmus Rhombeus, is a strikingly beautiful yet formidable freshwater fish prized for its jet-black coloration and distinct diamond-shaped body. Originating from the Amazon River basin, these piranhas exhibit a fierce demeanor and commanding presence in any aquarium setup. Origin: Native to South America, particularly found in the Amazon River and its tributaries, the Black Rhom Piranha inhabits slow-moving waters densely populated with vegetation and driftwood. Feeding: As carnivorous predators, they have a diet predominantly consisting of live or frozen meaty foods such as fish, shrimp, and earthworms. Offering a varied diet ensures optimal health and vitality. Tank Mates: Due to their aggressive nature, tank mates should be carefully chosen. Ideally housed alone or with other robust, large fish that can withstand their temperament. Tank mates should be of similar size and not easily intimidated. Aggression: Known for their territorial behavior, Black Rhom Piranhas are solitary and can display aggression towards conspecifics or other fish invading their space. Adequate space and hiding spots are essential to mitigate territorial disputes. Experience Level: Recommended for experienced aquarists well-versed in managing aggressive fish species. Their care requires attention to detail, understanding of predatory behaviors, and maintaining pristine water conditions. Water Parameters: These piranhas thrive in freshwater conditions with a temperature range of 75-82°F (24-28°C), pH between 5.5-7.0, and soft to moderately hard water. Regular water changes and efficient filtration are crucial to maintain water quality.
