Black Ruby Barb Pethia Nigrofasciata 4cm Overview: The Black Ruby Barb, scientifically known as Pethia nigrofasciata, is a striking and peaceful freshwater fish, revered for its deep black coloration and vibrant red accents. Originating from the streams and rivers of Sri Lanka, this species adds elegance and contrast to any aquarium setup. Origin: Found originally in the clear waters of Sri Lanka, the Black Ruby Barb thrives in environments with gentle to moderate water flow, reminiscent of its native habitat. Feeding: These omnivorous beauties readily accept high-quality flake foods, supplemented with live or frozen fare like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and vegetable matter for optimal health and coloration. Tank Mates: Peaceful and social, Black Ruby Barbs are excellent community fish, coexisting harmoniously with other peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, danios, and peaceful bottom-dwellers like Corydoras catfish. Aggression: With their tranquil demeanor, Black Ruby Barbs are among the more peaceful choices for a community aquarium. They rarely exhibit aggressive behavior, especially when housed in appropriate numbers. Experience Level: Ideal for aquarists of various skill levels, including beginners, due to their hardiness, adaptability, and ease of care. Their stunning appearance makes them a favorite among seasoned hobbyists as well. Water Parameters: Maintain a well-filtered aquarium with temperatures between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C) and a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5. Regular water changes and a well-established environment are key to their thriving.
