Blue Back Dwarf Angelfish – Centropyge colini

Overview:
The Blue Back Dwarf Angelfish is a stunning marine fish with a bright yellow body contrasted by a deep blue dorsal region, creating a striking two-tone appearance. Its small size, bold colors, and active swimming make it a standout in both reef and fish-only aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Western Pacific, particularly around Melanesian and Micronesian reefs, where it inhabits coral-rich lagoons and reef slopes.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality angelfish pellets or frozen foods. Supplement with seaweed sheets to maintain vibrant coloration and health.

Tank Mates:
Compatible with peaceful to semi-aggressive fish. Territorial toward other dwarf angelfish, so keep singly or in a large tank. In reef aquariums, may occasionally nip at LPS corals, soft corals, or clam mantles.

Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – active and territorial, particularly with other dwarf angelfish.

Experience Level:
Intermediate – hardy once established, but requires a stable aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025

• Minimum Tank Size: 70+ gallons
