Blue Cauliflower Coral Polyp (Sympodium sp.)
Overview:
The Blue Cauliflower Coral Polyp is a soft coral known for its intricate, cauliflower-like growth form and striking blue coloration. Its densely clustered polyps provide texture and visual interest, making it a captivating addition to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found encrusting rock, rubble, and reef slopes.
Feeding:
Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae. Supplemental feedings of phytoplankton, marine snow, or microplankton can support growth and enhance vibrant coloration.
Tank Mates:
Reef-safe and compatible with peaceful fish and invertebrates. Avoid placing near aggressive corals that may sting or shade it.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive. Moderate growth rate and does not overtake neighboring corals rapidly.
Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, thrives under moderate lighting, moderate water flow, and stable water parameters.
