Blue Jigsaw Triggerfish – Pseudobalistes fuscus

Overview:
The Blue Jigsaw Triggerfish is a striking marine species, named for its intricate blue “jigsaw” pattern over a dark body. Its bold coloration and strong personality make it a standout in large reef aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reefs and rocky coastal areas from East Africa to the western Pacific.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, crustaceans, and prepared marine diets, supplemented with occasional algae-based foods.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with robust, similarly sized fish. Avoid small, slow-moving, or timid species, as the Blue Jigsaw Triggerfish can be territorial and aggressive.

Aggression:
Highly territorial and aggressive – requires ample space and hiding spots. Can be particularly aggressive toward conspecifics or similar-looking species.

Experience Level:
Advanced aquarists – demands a large, well-established aquarium with strong filtration and careful selection of tank mates.

• Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025

• Minimum Tank Size: 200+ gallons
