Blue Spot Blenny – Salarias guttatus
Overview:
The Blue Spot Blenny is a small, hardy marine fish, easily identified by its distinctive blue spots scattered across a mottled brown body. Active and reef-safe, it is known for its algae-grazing behavior, making it a natural cleaner for community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — feeds on algae, high-quality marine flakes or pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular grazing helps maintain both its health and aquarium cleanliness.
Tank Mates:
Perfect for peaceful reef and community tanks, compatible with gobies, clownfish, blennies, and other non-aggressive species.
Aggression:
Peaceful, may show mild territorial behavior toward other blennies if space is limited.
Experience Level:
Suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists, due to its hardy nature and easy care requirements.
