Overview:
The Blue Zebra Angelfish is a stunning variant of the classic Pterophyllum scalare, featuring vertical zebra-like stripes over a shimmering blue or steel-toned body. With its graceful, tall fins and captivating movement, this angelfish is a centerpiece species in any freshwater community or planted aquarium. Selectively bred for its vibrant sheen and strong striping, it combines classic beauty with a modern twist.

Origin:
A selectively bred morph of the wild angelfish, which originates from slow-moving waters in the Amazon River Basin in Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. The Blue Zebra variant was developed in the aquarium trade for enhanced color and pattern.

Feeding:
Omnivorous and easy to feed. Offer a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and granules, as well as frozen or live foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia to support color and health.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful, but semi-territorial, especially when breeding. Ideal tank mates include tetras (larger-bodied species like black skirts or rummynose), rainbowfish, Corydoras, gouramis, and other peaceful community fish. Avoid fin-nippers and very small fish like neon tetras (may be seen as food when the angelfish grows).

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 76–82°F (24–28°C)

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Soft to moderately hard water

• Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons (taller tanks preferred for full fin display)

• Prefers calm waters, planted environments, and vertical décor

Behavior & Personality:

• Intelligent and social

• Will form hierarchies in groups

• Can be kept singly, in pairs, or in groups (with enough space)

Special Notes:

• May form monogamous breeding pairs and lay eggs on vertical surfaces

• Excellent centerpiece for Amazon biotope or planted tanks

• Vibrant blue coloration is best seen under quality lighting and good water conditions

• Hardy and well-suited for both intermediate and advanced hobbyists
