Brittle Black Starfish Ophiocomina Nigra The Brittle Black Starfish, scientifically known as Ophiocomina nigra, is a fascinating marine invertebrate that originates from the northeastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. This active carnivore and scavenger is known for its distinctive black coloration and intricate arm structure. In the aquarium, the Brittle Black Starfish is an excellent addition for experienced marine hobbyists. It is an active predator that feeds on small crustaceans, mollusks, and detritus, making it an effective cleanup crew member. However, it may also prey on other invertebrates, so care should be taken when selecting tank mates. Peaceful, fast-moving fish are generally suitable companions. The Brittle Black Starfish requires a stable marine environment with a pH between 8.1-8.4, temperature between 72-82°F, and moderate water movement. It is important to maintain excellent water quality and provide hiding places, as this species can be sensitive to water parameter fluctuations. With the proper care and setup, the Brittle Black Starfish can thrive and become a captivating centerpiece in the marine aquarium.Above images for illustration purposes only.
