Their natural habitat consists of slow-moving or standing waters, where they can often be found among dense vegetation or hiding in rocky crevices. Feeding: As omnivores, Buttikoferi Cichlids have a varied diet in the wild, which includes algae, small invertebrates, and plant matter. In captivity, they should be fed a balanced diet consisting of high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with fresh or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and blanched vegetables to ensure optimal health and coloration. Tank Mates: Due to their size and aggressive nature, Buttikoferi are best kept with other large, robust fish that can hold their own.
