Calico Wakin Goldfish

Overview

The Calico Wakin Goldfish is a beautiful, long-bodied goldfish variety known for its flowing double tail and striking calico coloration of red, white, blue, and black. Hardy and active, Wakins combine elegance with strong swimming ability, making them ideal for larger aquariums or outdoor ponds.

Origin

Japan (selectively bred goldfish variety)

Feeding

• Omnivorous

• High-quality goldfish pellets or flakes

• Supplement with vegetables (peas, spinach, zucchini)

• Occasional treats of frozen or live foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp

Tank Mates

• Best kept with other fast, slim-bodied goldfish (Wakin, Comet, Shubunkin)

• Avoid slow fancy goldfish or tropical species

• Not suitable with aggressive or fin-nipping fish

Aggression

Peaceful and social
May outcompete slower fish for food due to active swimming

Beginner to intermediate
Very hardy but requires good filtration and space
