Caribbean Horned Blenny – Hypsoblennius exstochilus
Overview:
The Caribbean Horned Blenny is a small, fascinating marine fish recognized by its horn-like cranial protrusions and mottled body coloration. Its quirky appearance and active behavior make it a captivating addition to reef and community tanks.
Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic Ocean, particularly the Caribbean Sea and nearby tropical waters.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on high-quality marine flakes or pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, algae-based foods, and finely chopped seafood.
Tank Mates:
Best suited for peaceful reef and community aquariums, coexisting with gobies, clownfish, blennies, and other non-aggressive species.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, may show mild territorial behavior toward conspecifics in smaller tanks.
Experience Level:
Ideal for beginner to intermediate aquarists, due to its hardy nature and easy care requirements.
