Cerith Snail (Cerithium sp.)

Overview

The Cerith Snail is a small, hardy, and elegant marine snail with a beautifully patterned spiral shell. Constantly on the move, it helps aerate the substrate, consume detritus, and control algae, making it an essential member of any reef cleanup crew.

Origin

Native to the Indo-Pacific region, Cerithium species are commonly found on sandy and rubble substrates, often near coral reefs and seagrass beds.

Feeding

Primarily herbivorous and detritivorous, feeding on microalgae, biofilm, and leftover organic matter. Will also scavenge on small bits of prepared food if natural algae is scarce.

Tank Mates

Completely reef-safe and peaceful. Compatible with all non-aggressive fish, corals, and invertebrates. Avoid predators such as puffers, Wrasses, or crabs that may attack the snail.

Aggression

Peaceful. Contributes to substrate health and cleanliness without harming other inhabitants.

Experience Level

Ideal for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. Hardy, low-maintenance, and adaptable to most reef and marine tank setups.
