Chalk Goby Valenciennea Sexguttata The Chalk Goby, Valenciennea sexguttata, is a small and visually striking sand-sifting goby native to the Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean. Growing up to 14 cm in length, this goby has a distinctive chalk-like appearance with blue dots along its body. In the wild, Chalk Gobies are found in wide open sandy areas with nearby shelter such as coral or rubble. In captivity, Chalk Gobies are known to be challenging to care for, as they require a specific diet of mouthfuls of sand and the small organisms living within it. Their dietary needs make them prone to starvation if not provided the right food. Suitable tank mates include other peaceful, sand-dwelling fish that will not compete for food. Chalk Gobies are generally not aggressive, but may become territorial towards their own species. Recommended for experienced aquarists, Chalk Gobies require a tank of at least 70 gallons (320 liters) with a deep sand substrate and hiding spots. Water parameters should be maintained at a temperature of 72-82°F (22-28°C), pH of 8.1-8.4, and specific gravity of 1.020-1.025.Above images for illustration purposes only.
