Overview

The Chocolate Wakin Goldfish is a striking and elegant goldfish variety known for its rich chocolate-brown coloration combined with the classic double tail and streamlined body of the Wakin type. Hardy and active, it is an excellent choice for ponds or large aquariums, offering both beauty and resilience.

Origin

Captive-bred ornamental goldfish
(Descended from East Asian goldfish strains)

Feeding

• Omnivorous

• High-quality goldfish pellets or flakes

• Supplement with vegetables (peas, spinach, zucchini)

• Occasional treats of bloodworms or brine shrimp

Tank Mates

• Best kept with other peaceful, similarly sized goldfish

• Compatible with Wakin, Comet, Shubunkin, and common goldfish

• Avoid small or slow fish that may be outcompeted for food

Aggression

Peaceful and social
No aggression toward tank mates

Experience Level

Beginner to intermediate
Hardy and adaptable, but benefits from good water quality and ample swimming space

• Temperature: 10–22°C (50–72°F)

• pH: 6.5–8.0

• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
