Cyprichromis Leptosoma Speckleback Tanganyikan African Cichlids 5cm

Overview: The Cyprichromis Leptosoma Speckleback, a graceful and visually captivating species, is a jewel of the aquarium. Renowned for their slender bodies and vivid colors, these fish display an enchanting speckleback pattern that adds a dash of brilliance to any aquatic setup. Their peaceful demeanor and unique swimming behavior make them a favorite among aquarists. Origin: Native to the crystal-clear, alkaline waters of Lake Tanganyika in Africa, Cyprichromis Leptosoma thrive in environments that mimic their natural habitat. Originating from one of the oldest and deepest lakes in the world, they are adapted to stable water conditions and require a setup that mirrors this stability. Feeding: Primarily insectivores, Cyprichromis Leptosoma Speckleback prefer a diet rich in high-quality, protein-based foods. Offer them a variety of foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and finely chopped fresh or frozen foods. High-quality flake or pellet food formulated for African cichlids can also be used as a staple diet, supplemented with live or frozen treats to ensure optimal health and coloration. Tank Mates: Ideal tank mates include other peaceful fish that thrive in similar water conditions. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive species. Other Tanganyikan cichlids, such as Julidochromis or Lamprologus, make suitable companions, as do small to medium non-cichlid species accustomed to similar water parameters. Aggression: Cyprichromis Leptosoma Speckleback are known for their peaceful nature and are rarely aggressive towards tank mates. However, males may display territorial behavior during breeding. Providing ample space and hiding spots can minimize stress and aggression. Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists, keeping Cyprichromis Leptosoma Speckleback requires knowledge of maintaining stable water parameters and a diet that meets their nutritional needs. Their sensitivity to water quality makes them less ideal for beginners. Water Parameters:
  • Temperature: 74-79°F (23-26°C)
  • pH: 7.8-9.0
  • Hardness: 10-20 dGH
A well-oxygenated tank with plenty of swimming space is essential. Regular water changes, a good filtration system, and attention to water quality will keep these stunning fish healthy and vibrant.
