Derasa Clam Tridacna Derasa The Derasa Clam (Tridacna derasa) is one of the larger and hardier species of tridacnid clams. It originates from the East Indian Ocean, Australia, Indonesia, and the Central/West Pacific region. This clam is known for its golden hues, smooth shell, and wide variety of patterns. The Derasa Clam requires bright illumination and high water quality, with properly oxygenated water. It lives in symbiosis with photosynthetic dinoflagellate algae, which provide it with most of its nutrients. As an adult, the Derasa Clam is sessile and considered peaceful. This species is suitable for aquarium keeping, but requires some care. It is recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists, as it demands specific water parameters to thrive. The minimum recommended aquarium volume is 200 liters (53 gallons). With the right conditions, the Derasa Clam can grow quite large, up to 60 cm (23.6 inches) in size.Above images for illustration purposes only. Exact colours, patterns, and size may vary between individuals.
