Diamond Butterfly Fish – Hemitaurichthys polylepis
Overview:
The Diamond Butterfly Fish is an elegant schooling species, easily identified by its diamond-shaped silvery-white body with subtle shading and clean black markings. Its active swimming behavior and schooling nature bring life and movement to large marine aquariums.
Origin:
Found across the Indo-Pacific region, including the Maldives, Philippines, and Great Barrier Reef.
Feeding:
Primarily planktivorous, feeding on zooplankton in the wild. In captivity, they adapt to frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with other peaceful community fish. They thrive in groups and do well in large aquariums.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive and peaceful, making them ideal for mixed-species tanks.
Experience Level:
Intermediate — requires a large, stable tank and regular feeding.
