Double Trunk Elephant Nose Campylomormyrus Elephas 10cm Overview: The Double Trunk Elephant Nose, scientifically known as Campylomormyrus Elephas, is a captivating and unique addition to any aquarium. Recognizable for its elongated trunk-like extension, this species boasts a stunning appearance and intriguing behavior. Origin: Originating from the freshwater rivers and tributaries of West Africa, particularly the Congo Basin, these remarkable fish thrive in slow-moving waters with sandy or muddy substrates. Feeding: These Elephant Noses are primarily carnivorous, preferring live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. They may also accept high-quality pellets or flakes. Tank Mates: Peaceful and shy by nature, they fare best in a community tank with non-aggressive species. Compatible tank mates include peaceful tetras, rasboras, peaceful cichlids like Kribensis, and other non-territorial fish of similar size. Aggression: Generally non-aggressive, the Double Trunk Elephant Nose prefers to avoid confrontation and might become stressed in the presence of aggressive or overly boisterous tank mates. Experience Level: Due to their sensitivity and specific care requirements, they are best suited for aquarists with moderate to advanced experience in maintaining freshwater aquariums. Patience and diligence in water quality maintenance are crucial for their well-being. Water Parameters: Maintain water temperature between 75-82°F (24-28°C) with a slightly acidic to neutral pH ranging from 6.5 to 7.5. Aim for soft to moderately hard water, and ensure good filtration and regular water changes to sustain optimal conditions.
